Two Charged with J M Jewelers Armed Robbery
(Bel Air, Md. – December 7, 2005) — Harford County Sheriff R. Thomas Golding has announced the arrest of two Baltimore area men for the armed robbery of J M Jewelers near Bel Air. The suspects, Corey Reuben Cooper, 26 of Monica Place in Gwynn Oak, and Brian O’Neal Hodge, 39, of Johnnycake Road in Gwynn Oak, were arrested following a joint investigation by the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, Baltimore County and Baltimore City police.
Hodge and Cooper were charged with the armed robbery of J M Jewelers, located in the 2100 block of Blue Spruce Drive near Bel Air in Harford County. The robbery occurred shortly before 5:00 p.m. on November 14, 2005. The two suspects allegedly took more than $750,000 worth of gems, precious stones and other jewelry during the robbery after locking the owner of the store and a FedEx delivery employee in a bathroom. Neither of the victims was seriously injured.
The two suspects were charged with various offenses, including robbery; armed robbery; false imprisonment; assault – first degree; assault – second degree; theft over $500; theft less than $100; and use of a handgun in the commission of a crime. If convicted on all charges the two could face more than 100 years in prison.
Commenting on the arrest, Sheriff Golding stated, “The arrest of these individuals was made possible through the excellent cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the public. This case was solved the old fashioned way – through hard work and perseverance.”
