Bel Air Teen Arrested for Motor Vehicle Assault

(Bel Air, MD) — Harford County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested 17 year old Terry Francis Weigman and charged him two counts of 1st degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment as the result of striking two victims with his motor vehicle.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Fairwood Road and Todd Road in Bel Air on Thursday, 09-22-05 at 7:15 P. M. for the report of an individual being run over by a motor vehicle. Investigation revealed that Mr. Weigman and a friend were sitting in his vehicle when they were confronted by 18-year-old Jacob Shumaker about Weigman having a relationship with his girlfriend. It was then reported by witnesses that Weigman put his vehicle in reverse, gunned the engine, and backed up, running over Shumaker’s foot and knocking him to the ground. Behind Weigman’s vehicle was 18-year-old Carissa Strickland, who had to jump on the vehicle’s trunk to also avoid being run over. Shumaker was treated on the scene by Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company’s Ambulance Crew and transported to Bayview Medical Center. Strickland refused medical treatment at the scene.

Weigman, who was charged as an adult has gone before a District Court Commissioner and is currently being held at the Harford County Detention Center on $50, 000 bond pending a bond review.
