Fatal Car Crash
(Harford County, Md) — A 22 year-old Massachusetts man died earlier today when the vehicle in which he was a passenger struck a telephone pole and rolled down an embankment. Richard C. Bradley of the unit bock of Summit St. Maldon, Massachusetts, was a passenger in a 2003 black Chevy Tahoe driven by Gregory Allan Morton Jr., 22, of the 1800 block Trout Farm Road, Jarrettsville, Maryland. At approximately 2:26am, Morton, who deputies say was intoxicated, was traveling south in the 1700 block of Morse Road and failed to stay on the roadway as he neared a curve. His vehicle crossed onto the shoulder and struck a telephone pole. The vehicle continued on striking a guardrail. The Tahoe then flipped over and rolled down an embankment. Morton was ejected from the truck and suffered no injuries. Bradley’s injuries were fatal and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff’s Office Advanced Crash Reconstructionists were called to the scene to reconstruct the crash scene. Once their investigation is complete it will be forwarded to the Harford County States Attorney’s Office for review. Additional charges are pending that review. Mr. Bradley’s body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy. Morton was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. After being processed at the Northern Precinct he was taken to the Harford County Detention Center and later before a Harford County District Court Commissioner. He was released on an unsecured $5,000 bond.
This is the sixth fatal car crash in 2005 and the fourth within the past month Sheriff’s deputies have investigated.
