Police Impersonator / Second Degree Assault

(Joppatowne, MD) — Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies have a 59-year-old man in custody, Raymond Carl Angeletti for assaulting two Joppatowne twelve-year-old males. Shortly after 1400 hours Angeletti was alleged to have approached the two juveniles in the area of Rumsey Place and Joppa Farm Road and identified himself as a police officer. The juveniles were then instructed by Angeletti to place their hands behind their backs and told they were under arrest. While Angeletti was pinning one of the boys arms behind his back the other boy became suspicious and ran. The first boy was then let go and the two ran to a nearby friend’s house for help. Angeletti initially followed the boys in a vehicle then drove a way from the scene. Deputies were able to obtain from witnesses a complete description of the suspect vehicle, a light blue 1991 four-door Chevrolet Cavalier to include the tag number.

A countywide broadcast was given out by Harford County Emergency Operations for the vehicle with Angeletti being stopped and detained in town limits by Havre De Grace Police Department Officers. Angeletti was subsequently identified by witnesses and taken into custody by Sheriff Office Deputies. Angeletti was transported to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Inter-Agency Processing Center where he was charged with 2nd Degree Assault, False Imprisonment and Impersonating a Police Officer and is awaiting an Initial Appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
