Task Force Arrest

(Harford County, Md) — Members of the Harford County Narcotics Task Force with the assistance of officers from HIDTA and the Maryland State Police seized what is expected to be over 100 lbs. of marijuana from a drug interdiction stop on I 95 in Havre de Grace. Acting on information received from a concerned citizen a surveillance detail was set up on I- 95 for a silver 2005 Acura displaying Pennsylvania plates. Shortly after 4:00 PM the suspect vehicle was spotted on south bound I-95 crossing into Maryland. A traffic stop was initiated on the Acura just south of Tidings Bridge in Harford County for doing 78 mph in a posted 65 mph zone. The sole driver of the Acura was identified as 40 year old, June Edwina Thomas of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A K-9 scan was conducted on the vehicle that resulted in a positive alert for the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. A subsequent search of the vehicle discovered two large suitcases in the vehicle’s trunk each containing a large amount of packaged marijuana.

Ms. Thomas was arrested and charged with CDS: Import into the State, CDS Possession w/ intent to distribute – Large Amount, Possession w/ intent to Distribute, and CDS Possession – Marijuana. She is currently being held at the Harford County Detention Center on a no bond status following a bond review before a District Court Judge.
