Forest Hill Homicide - Update

Suspect Apprehended and Charged with Murder

[January 30, 2014, Forest Hill, MD] - Harford County Sheriff's detectives have arrested Isaac Anya Ojiabo, Jr, 20, of 1606 Rushing Stream Court charging him with 1st and 2nd degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon in the stabbing death of his mother, Joy Ojiabo, 51.

Ojiabo Jr was taken into custody after detectives, canvassing the Forest Hill area, located him at the intersection of Crouse Road and Putnam Road. He was found in the family's white Lexus SUV that he used to leave the home after assaulting and killing his mother. He was arrested without incident. Ojiabo is currently being held in the Harford County Detention Center awaiting his initial appearance before a Harford County District Court Commissioner.

Mrs. Ojiabo was found shortly after 5pm on January 29th by her husband Anya Ojiabo who, upon coming home, found her in a room on the 2nd floor. He immediately called 911. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was taken to the Office of the Chief Examiner for autopsy.

Note: As a result of a language barrier the victim's name was initially and incorrectly reported as Ojy. Her correct name is Joy. Mrs. Ojiabo's murder is the first homicide in 2014 for the Harford County Sheriff's Office.
