Harford County Man Critically Injured in Altercation

[May 28, 2011, Joppa MD] — A Harford County man is in critical condition at University of Maryland's Shock Trauma after being injured in what has been initially described as a fight between neighbors.

On May 27, 2011 at approximately 2243 hours, Harford County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 500 block of Philadelphia Road in Joppa, MD in reference to a 911 call of a reported fight in progress. Upon arrival, Kent Luther Lawing, age 56, was found to be suffering from a head injury allegedly sustained during the altercation. Members of the Joppa Magnolia VFC responded to the scene, provided medical attention, and transported Lawing to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. Additional assessment of the victim's injuries at the hospital resulted in him being flown to Shock Trauma. Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division detectives are presently conducting further investigation into the circumstances and parties involved in the incident.
