Fatal Three-Wheeler Accident off Old Robin Hood Road

(Havre de Grace, MD – May 19, 2011) Shortly before 8pm on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, Harford County Sheriff's Office deputies and Aberdeen Volunteer Fire Department personnel responded to a call for service in the 2400 block of Old Robin Hood Road, Havre de Grace, MD. The accident involved Tyler Lee Hickman, age 16, of the 1900 block of Bennett Road in Perryman, MD, who had been seriously injured after rolling a three-wheel vehicle. Deputies determined that Hickman was operating a Honda three-wheeler at the home of a relative. He lost control of the vehicle, which struck a large pine tree. Hickman landed in a rock layered embankment approximately 10'- 15' away from the tree.

When deputies arrived at the scene, Hickman was in a semi-conscious state, but was able to verbally provide the deputy his name. He had suffered a large laceration to the rear of his head. Due to severe weather conditions, Maryland State Police Trooper 1 was unable to transport the victim to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma, so he was taken for treatment to Harford Memorial Hospital by Aberdeen Volunteer Fire Department Medics. Tyler Lee Hickman was pronounced deceased at approximately 9:25pm by physicians at Harford Memorial Hospital.
