Sheriff’s Office News Releases Available through E-Mail

(Harford County, MD) — Residents of Harford County who want more information about police activities may now subscribe to receive press releases from the Sheriff’s Office by e-mail. Those who register will receive the same news releases that are distributed to the media including those that contain information about crimes, arrests, public safety warnings and lookouts for wanted subjects.

Sheriff R. Thomas Golding said his office works closely with the local media who do a very good job of including Sheriff’s Office releases in their publications. “But we understand they have limitations and must address the needs of all agencies who send them news releases,” Golding said. By using our e-mail system we can create a distribution list allowing the public to be informed of a number of law enforcement related issues. Golding said an added benefit is the potential for the apprehension of wanted suspects. “Police can’t do the job alone or be everywhere at once,” Golding said. If the public has our news release, complete with the descriptive information of the suspects we are searching for, then there is a possibility someone will see the suspect and call in a tip. “Our society likes to be kept informed and we believe this is another tool we can use to keep lines of communication to the community open,” Golding said.

To register your e-mail address log on to the Sheriff’s Office website at and look for the registration link under the Public Affairs Section. Those registering their addresses will receive news releases at the same time as the media.
