Fugitive Mark Jones - Captured

(Harford County, MD – April 10, 2009) – The fugitive, Mark A. Jones suspected to be armed and dangerous was arrested earlier this afternoon in York, PA near the York Galleria Mall.

Utilizing investigative measures, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office was able to locate Jones in the York, Pennsylvania area. In cooperation with the Pennsylvania State Police and Springettsbury Police Department, a surveillance of the area was established and Jones was spotted inside the York Galleria Mall. Before he could be detained by Harford County Sheriff’s deputies and members of local law enforcement, Jones fled out of the mall and across the parking lot where he was apprehended in front of the Springettsbury Police Department. Mr. Jones continued to resist arrest, and law enforcement officers had to utilize TASER technology to subdue the fugitive to complete the arrest.

A warrant was issued by the District Court of Maryland for Harford County on April 7th, 2009 for Jones’ arrest, in connection with shots fired at his estranged girlfriend in the Riverside area of Harford County. Jones is currently in custody of the Springettsbury Police facing local charges. He will then be moved the York County Sheriff’s Office Central Booking facility and held in York County prison while awaiting extradition to Harford County, MD. Details regarding the dates and times for the various hearings in Pennsylvania have not been determined at this time.
