Suspicious Incident in Bel Air

(Bel Air, MD – February 23, 2009) - Harford County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a suspicious incident which occurred in the 500 block of East Broadway, Bel Air, MD.

On Friday February 20, 2009 at approximately 3:00 p.m. an 8-year-old boy was walking home from the bus stop when he was approached by a man in a red pick-up truck. The driver of the truck stopped, opened the driver’s side door, and asked the boy to help find his lost cat. Without further conversation, the boy ran home and reported the incident to his mother who then called the police. The driver is described as a black male, thirty to forty years old, black hair, wearing a blue shirt and blue sweatpants. The truck was last seen traveling on East Broadway towards Hickory Avenue. Deputies canvassed the area; however, they were unable to locate the vehicle or driver.

The Sheriff’s Office continues to encourage citizens to report suspicious activity and maintain adult supervision of children. Anyone with information regarding the suspicious person or the incident described is asked to contact the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Northern Precinct at 410-692-7880.
