Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident on Hanson Road

(October 10, 2008, Edgewood, MD) At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2008, Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a serious motor vehicle accident that occurred in the 1600 block of Hanson Road, directly in front of the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company. The first vehicle, a 2002 Toyota Camry, operated by 19 year old Michael A. Pringle Jr. of Edgewood MD, was traveling east on Hanson Road at a high rate of speed. For unknown reasons, the 2002 Camry crossed the center turn lane and entered the west bound lane, striking head on, the second vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet Suburban. The Suburban was being driven by Laurie Mause, 31 of Edgewood, MD. Her children, ages 12 and 2 were passengers in the vehicle.

Mause, the driver of the Suburban was transported by Maryland State Aviation Trooper 1 to Shock Trauma with severe injuries. No updates are known on her condition at this time. The children, treated for minor injuries received from seatbelts, were transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center by ambulance.

Michael Pringle, the driver of the Camry, was determined to be in trauma arrest at the scene and was transported by ambulance to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center by the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company. He was pronounced dead at 9:44pm by medical personnel at the hospital. The Toyota Camry that Pringle had been driving was reported stolen in an armed carjacking earlier in the day in Baltimore City. Pringle was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
