Stand Off Ends in Early Morning Arrest

(Edgewood, MD – July 7, 2008) A barricade ended this morning in an arrest without incident, following a domestic situation that occurred in the 1300 block of E. Spring Meadow Court. Beginning at approximately 7:30am, the situation was brought under control by Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies in less than three and a half hours, concluding with the arrest of Michael K. Peters, 23 of Edgewood MD.

Around 7:30am, deputies received a 911 call from a friend of the victim regarding a domestic assault. Kristen Tourville, 24 of Edgewood MD, and her four year old daughter were assaulted by Peters, earlier in the morning. Through investigation, deputies verified that the suspect was more than likely still located at the address and was suicidal with possession of a gun.

Deputies responded to the 1300 block of E. Spring Meadow Court in an attempt to locate and apprehend Peters. Upon arrival, they found the front door of the residence ajar and received no answer from inside when identifying themselves. Believing Peters to still be in the residence with a firearm, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT) was called to the scene. Unable to get a response from Peters in the home, the SRT team made entry in the residence and apprehended Peters without further incident at approximately 10:15am.

Pending an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner, Peters is being held at the Harford County Detention Center where he is being charged with 1st and 2nd degree assault.
