Two Arrested for Kidnapping and Assault

(Bel Air, MD – May 23, 2008) — Harford County Sheriff’s deputies have charged two men with kidnapping, first degree assault, and second degree assault following an incident which occurred late Friday afternoon. Justin Eugene Bolden, 25, of the 2700 block of Forge Hill Road, Bel Air, MD and Johnny Bolden, 48, of the 900 block of Walker Street, Aberdeen, MD were arrested after they allegedly kidnapped and assaulted Wardell Brooks, 52, of the 2100 block of Kalmia Road, Bel Air, MD.

At 5:43 pm deputies responded to a 911 call in the 2100 block of Kalmia Road, Bel Air, MD in reference to a kidnapping and assault. Justin and Johnny Bolden came to Brook’s residence over a dispute concerning the sale of a vehicle. Johnny Bolden then ordered Brooks into his vehicle and threatened to shoot Brooks if he did not comply. Brooks complied and sat in the front passenger seat while Justin Bolden drove the truck and Johnny Bolden, seated behind Brooks, held a knife to Brooks’ throat. A short time later they stopped along a dirt road off of Kalmia Road, Bel Air, MD where the Boldens forced Brooks out of the vehicle. After being kicked and punched several times, Brooks fell to the ground where he was repeatedly kicked. Johnny Bolden then began to swing a knife at Brooks. Brooks defended the attack and as a result, suffered lacerations to his hands. The Boldens then left the scene, leaving Brooks behind. Brooks was able to walk home and then called 911. Brooks was treated at the scene by Bel Air Volunteer Fire Department and transported to the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.

Detectives and patrol officers located both Boldens a short distance away at Johnny Bolden’s residence. Both were arrested and taken to the Harford County Detention Center where they are being held in lieu of $200,000 bond. A bond review is scheduled for May 27, 2008 at 1:15 pm.
