Accidental Death – Subject Struck by his Car and Dies

(Joppa Md) — Harford County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 300 block of Chimney Oak Drive at 5:55 am this morning for a report of a subject trapped under a car. Deputies arrived at 5:58am to find Amnon Birenzvige, 67, lying under his 2003 Nissan Sentra GXE. Deputies determined Mr. Birenzvige had no pulse and suffered traumatic injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police received the initial call from a passerby who observed Mr. Birenzvige lying under the car and called 911.

Deputies learned Mr. Birenzvige was leaving his home around 5:30am and believed he may have started his car to let it warm. Deputies are investigating the possibility Mr. Birenzvige may have walked down to get his paper and that the car may have drifted down, striking and subsequently running over him.

Mr. Birenzvige’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy and deputies will continue their investigation.
