Aberdeen Man Kidnapped and Robbed

(Edgewood, MD – April 28, 2008) — Harford County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the kidnapping and robbery of a 25 year old man which occurred early Monday morning.

At 1:47 am deputies were contacted by the Baltimore City Police Department in reference to a kidnapping and robbery that occurred in the 1700 block of Fountain Rock Way, Edgewood, MD. At approximately 1:10 am, Frederick Coleman, 25, was visiting a friend in the 1700 block of Fountain Rock Way. Before entering the residence he was confronted by two unknown males, dressed in black, one carrying a handgun. Coleman was ordered to lay face down on the ground and was robbed. His belt was removed from his pants; his hands were then tied behind his back and he was ordered to lay face down in the back seat of his vehicle. One male drove Coleman’s vehicle while the other sat in the back seat preventing Coleman from moving.

After being driven into Baltimore City, Coleman was able to loosen the belt, fight with his attackers and gain control of the handgun. During this confrontation, the driver exited the vehicle left it in drive, and fled on foot. The vehicle jumped the median strip and struck a light pole in the area of Orleans Street and Broadway. At this point, the second suspect fled the vehicle and Coleman was able to contact the police. Coleman was not injured during the attack.

Anyone with information regarding the kidnapping and robbery is urged to contact the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at 410-836-5434 Additionally Harford County Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the attack. To be eligible for the reward, tipsters must call the 24-hour tip-line at 1-888-540-TIPS. Callers do not have to give their name nor appear in court.
