Victim Found Dead in Motel Room Identified

(Aberdeen, MD – August 21, 2007) — On Saturday August 18, 2007, Deputies discovered Robert Donte Hemphill, 26, decreased in his room at the Keyser Motel located in the 1300 block of South Philadelphia Boulevard in Aberdeen.

Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the motel late Saturday evening at 11:36 p.m. for a reported burglary and check on the well being of the occupant in a motel room.

Upon arrival deputies observed the front door to motel room to be partially open. Once deputies entered the motel room they discovered the victim lying on the floor. The victim was unresponsive and determined to be deceased by deputies. The 26-year-old black male victim suffered trauma to the upper torso.

Detectives encountered many difficulties working for several days attempting to locate Mr. Hemphill's next of kin. Earlier this evening their efforts paid off when Mr. Hemphill's family was located in Baltimore and finally notified of his death.

There are currently no suspects in this homicide. Investigators with the Harford County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division are conducting the investigation.
