Aberdeen Woman Charged In Identity Theft Case
(Harford County, MD – June 12, 2007) — During April 2007, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a county resident after she detected an unfamiliar account on her credit report. Through investigation it was determined that Mary Elizabeth Cupp, 47 of Swan Street in Aberdeen had fraudulently secured an account through QVC utilizing the victim’s information to obtain merchandise totaling over $1,000.00. The investigation lead Sheriff’s deputies to the recovery of over 90% of the stolen merchandise.
Mary Cupp was charged with 13 counts of Fraud Personal Identity Information Theft, 11 counts of Fraud Personal Identity Avoid Payment, five counts of Theft less than $500.00, six counts of Theft less than $100.00 and one count of Theft Scheme $500 plus. Cupp was charged on a criminal summons and is awaiting a late July 2007 court date.
