Deputies Break-Up Early Morning Armed Robbery

(Harford County, MD – May 29, 2007) — Harford County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested Fontaine D. Smith, 20 of the 200 block of Zeplin Avenue in Glen Burnie during the early morning hours of Saturday, May 26, 2007 for an armed robbery incident that occurred at the Texaco located in 4200 block of Philadelphia Road in Belcamp.

Deputies on patrol in the area witnessed Smith exit the business and run from the area when he observed the marked patrol vehicles on the parking lot of the Texaco. Deputies including a K-9 unit pursued Smith who was located a short distance away and subsequently taken in custody. The investigation revealed that Smith grabbed the clerk and attempted to rob the victim at gunpoint. He ran from the business prior to his demands being met.

Smith was charged with Armed Robbery, Attempted Robbery, and Second Degree Assault. He is being held at the Harford County Detention Center in lieu of $25,000 bond. Smith is scheduled for a bond review before a District Court Judge later today.
