(Edgewood, Md) — Harford County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the shooting death of an Edgewood cab driver and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects. Deral Howard Guess, 37, of the 600 block Yorkshire Drive in Edgewood, was shot and killed this morning as he was picking up a fare on Harford Square Drive in Edgewood. Police were called to the 1500 block of Harford Square Drive at 12:42am on December 8th after residents in the area heard a car crash and reported it to 911. Deputies arriving on the scene discovered the crash but found the victim had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
Investigation thus far has revealed that Mr. Guess was a driver for United Sedan, a taxi service located at 1812 Pulaski Highway in Edgewood. Shortly after midnight the company received a call to pick up a fare in the Harford Square development. Mr. Guess was dispatched to the area arriving shortly after 12:30am. Witnesses reported hearing a loud bang and then a crash. Neighbors observed Mr. Guess’s taxi, a dark green Plymouth Voyager, to have traveled across F Court striking another parked vehicle and then coming to rest on a grassy area in front of several town homes. Mr. Guess was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsy.
Detectives have few leads and no motive in the shooting and are asking for the public’s help.
