Abingdon Department Store In-house Bank Robbed

(Abingdon, MD. – January 31, 2007) — Criminal investigators with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a bank robbery which occurred Wednesday evening at the Provident Bank located inside the Constant Friendship Wal-Mart. The robbery was reported at approximately 6:20 p.m.

Investigators are searching for a mid-thirties black male, with a goatee, approximately 6’-2”, having a slim build, who at the time of the robbery was wearing a gray fleece jacket, gray sweat shirt, white t-shirt, baggy black or blue jeans, brown shoes and a brown knit hat rolled up with a tan stripe or inside. The suspect entered the banks teller line and demanded money when he reached the teller’s counter implying that he had a gun in the pocket of his jacket.

Numerous patrons and employees were in the bank and Wal-Mart at the time of the crime however; none were injured.

Investigators believe the lone suspect fled in a champagne Nissan Maxima with an undisclosed amount of money.

Anyone with information regarding the bank robbery is urged to contact the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at 410-836-5431. Additionally, Harford County Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the robber.
