Domestic Violence Ends in Murder

Victim Stabbed Multiple Times

(Joppatowne , MD – December 15, 2006) — Shortly after 12:30 a.m. today Harford County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a 911 domestic violence call in the 600 block of Anchor Drive. A woman reported she had just stabbed her husband.

Upon arrival at the residence deputies were met by a female, later identified as Eveline Anna Marie Bergman, 46, who had visible blood on her person. The victim, Jeffrey David Bergman, 48, was located in the family room, on the couch unconscious with multiple stab wounds to his chest and extremities.

The victim was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel from the Joppa – Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company and transported by ambulance to Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore for further treatment. Bergman died in surgery as the result of his injuries at approximately 3:30 am.

The suspect, Eveline Anna Marie Bergman was subsequently taken into custody by Sheriff’s Office detectives and charged with 1st and 2nd degree murder and 1st and 2nd degree assault. She is currently being held at the Harford County Detention Center with bond denied awaiting her District Court bail review hearing on Monday, December 18, 2006. Investigation of the homicide is continuing.
