Sheriff Bane Continues Reorganization Initiative

Changes Made to the Office of Media and Public Relations

(Bel Air, MD – December 7, 2006) — Harford County Sheriff L. Jesse Bane continues to forge ahead with the reorganization of the Harford County Sheriff's Office since receiving the oath of office Tuesday evening.

Effective immediately, Lt. James I. Eyler is appointed as the Public Information Officer for the Sheriff’s Office replacing Robert B. Thomas, Jr. Sheriff Bane appointed Thomas as Director of the Office of Public Information and Communication. Lt. Eyler will assume day-to-day responsibilities to respond to media inquiries and will serve as the primary spokesperson for the Harford County Sheriff's Office. As Director of the Office of Public Information and Communication, Thomas will be responsible for coordinating both internal and external communications for the Sheriff’s Office, as well as special projects as assigned by the sheriff.

Lt. Eyler is an 18 year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office and has served for the past 18 months as Administrative Assistant to the sheriff and as ombudsman for the agency.
