Sheriff Bane Announces Command Staff Assignments

(Bel Air, MD – December 5, 2006) — Harford County Sheriff L. Jesse Bane has announced the formation of his Command Staff. The appointments and assignments are effective today.

Sheriff Bane has appointed Gregory Carlevaro as Chief Deputy. Colonel Carlevaro has served with the Sheriff’s Office since October 1975. Prior to his appointment as Chief Deputy, Colonel Carlevaro served as a Captain and Commander of Administrative Services.

Additionally, Sheriff Bane promoted Captain Steve Bodway to Major and Commander of the Services and Support Bureau. Major Bodway was appointed to the Sheriff’s Office in September 1980. The Sheriff also promoted Captain Mark Forwood to Major and assigned him as Commander of the Investigative Services Bureau. Major Forwood has served with the Sheriff’s Office since July 1988.

Major John Dennison, a 27 year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office has been transferred to Commander of the Police Service Bureau from the Investigative Services Bureau. Additionally, Sheriff Bane transferred Captain John Bowman from Commander of the Northern Precinct to Commander of the Southern Precinct. Captain Doug Verzi has been transferred from Commander of the Southern Precinct to Commander of the Northern Precinct.

Major Elwood Dehaven will remain as the Acting Warden of the Harford County Detention Center. Captain Michael Capasso will continue to serve as Commander of Operations for the detention center.

Sheriff Bane is conducting a promotional process for the rank of Captain and will make further promotions and assignments to his Command Staff during the next several weeks.
