Traffic Stop Yields Drugs and Two Arrests
Adult and Juvenile Charged
(Bel Air, MD – October 23, 2006) — A traffic stop Thursday afternoon resulted in two arrests and drugs seized. An adult and juvenile were charged after Harford County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped the vehicle they were operating for a motor vehicle violation.
Deputies assigned to the Northern Precinct while on routine patrol on Conowingo Road north of Bel Air, observed a 2002 Acura with Maryland registration operating with a tint violation. A traffic stop ensued and when deputies approached the operator of the vehicle, they detected a strong odor a marijuana coming from within the car. The occupants, a 17-year-old male who was driving and his passenger, Anthony P. Yingling, 18, of Crestway Court in Fallston were subsequently detained and later charged.
During a search of the vehicle pursuant to the arrest, deputies found a clear plastic bag of suspected marijuana in the pants pocket of Yingling. Additionally, deputies also found suspected marijuana in a black bag located behind the driver’s seat and in the glove compartment. The marijuana seized amounted to approximately one pound.
Yingling was taken before a Harford County District Court Commissioner and was released on personal recognizance. The juvenile was charged and released to the custody of his parents.
