Youth Drowns in Pool During Family Outing

Efforts to Revive Child Prove Futile

(Joppatowne, Md. – August 7, 2006) — A 14 year-old boy from Reisterstown in Baltimore County died Saturday night after he drown in a swimming pool during a family outing in Joppatowne. John “Jack” David Lulie of Mansel Lane in Reisterstown was visiting his grandparents at their home in the 200 block of Kilgore Court in Joppatowne, when he accidentally drown while swimming alone.

The child’s mother, Debbie Ann Lane, 45, also of Reisterstown, discovered her son lying motionless in the pool at approximately 6:45 p.m. Saturday evening. She along with friend of the family jumped into the pool to rescue the boy. The youngster was placed on the deck of the pool where CPR was started.

The victim was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel from the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company and then transported to Franklin Square Hospital for treatment. Due to his critical condition, the boy was transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore where he subsequently died.

An investigation by the Harford County Sheriff's Office determined the youngster had been jumping in and out of the pool for sometime and had not experienced any difficulties. The youth was playing alone in the pool when he accidentally drown.
