Soldier Held on $50,000 Bond

(Bel Air, Md. – July 4, 2006) — Brandon Lee Taylor, 18 years of age, a private in the U. S. Army stationed at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, is being held on $50,000 bond at the Harford County Detention Center. Taylor was charged earlier today with the carjacking of a 2004 Ford Explorer owned by Thomas Maurice Head, 30 of Edgewood. The incident occurred Monday, July 3, 2006 at approximately 10:30 p.m. at the Shell Mart located in the 1700 block of Hanson Road in Edgewood.

Head sustained a serious injury to his right leg when he attempted to stop Taylor from fleeing in the Ford Explorer. Head’s five year old son was in the vehicle at the time of the carjacking and was not injured.

Thomas Head was transported by Maryland State Police medevac helicopter to Shock Trauma in Baltimore and remains hospitalized in fair condition.

Private Taylor was charged with carjacking, kidnapping, reckless endangerment, theft of a motor vehicle, 1st and 2nd degree assault as well as a number of motor vehicle charges.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigation Division is continuing the investigation of the incident.
