On Friday June 4, 2004 at 11:53pm, Harford County Sheriff’s deputies were patrolling the Harford Square development on Hanson Road in Edgewood when they heard a volley of shots coming from the Harford Square community swimming pool located at 1439 Harford Square Drive. Upon arrival, they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Aylsworth Johnson, 33, of the 1300 block Harford Square Drive, and Josh Wary Barmer, 38, also of the 1300 block Harford Square Drive each suffered a gunshot wound to their upper torso. They were treated at the scene by members of the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company and subsequently flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma by State Police Medivac. Mr. Barmer has since been released while Mr. Johnson remains hospitalized.

Police estimate there were between 200-300 people at this party. Witnesses reported a fight had started between several people near the front entrance of the pool. Shortly afterwards, a black male, approximately 5’10”, medium build, wearing all black clothing and a black hat began firing a shotgun into the crowd. The shots struck the two victims. Witnesses later identified both suspects to police.
