Gang Member Arrested for Shooting
(Bel Air, Md. – February 25, 2006) — Harford County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested an alleged member of the “Bloods” gang and charged him in connection with a shooting on Saturday, February 11, 2006 in Edgewood. Jonathan Felix Knight, 21, of 1309 Acorn Ridge Court in Edgewood, was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with attempted murder, assault and robbery among other charges.
Knight was arrested following an intensive two week investigation into a shooting which occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on February 11, 2006 in the 500 block of Candlewood Drive in the Windsor Valley community of Edgewood. An occupant of a two-story townhouse, Daniel Allen Perkins, was struck in the upper right arm by a single bullet alleged fired by Knight. Perkins refused medical treatment for his injury.
The bullet which struck Perkins entered the home through the front vinyl siding and then continued through a second floor bedroom closet, struck the victim and then continued through a bathroom wall narrowly missing a woman.
Investigators with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office allege that Knight and a second suspect approached two individuals that were walking in the 500 block of Candlewood Court and attempted to rob them at gunpoint. The two victims moved away from Knight and the second suspect in an effort to flee. Knight allegedly fired several shots into the air and in the direction of the victims as they fled. Fortunately, neither of the victims was struck by projectiles from the gun used by Knight.
Knight has been charged with three counts of attempted first degree murder, three counts of attempted second degree murder, three counts of assault – first degree, three counts of assault – second degree, two counts of armed robbery, robbery, three counts of reckless endangerment, and use of a handgun in the commission of a felony. Knight is currently being held in the Harford County Detention Center without bail. A bail review hearing is scheduled for Monday afternoon in Harford County.
The investigation of the shooting and armed robbery is continuing. Anyone with information regarding the crime is asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Division of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office at 410-836-5431. All information will be kept strictly confidential.
