Sheriff's Office Investigates Two Shootings in Edgewood

(Bel Air, Md. – February 13, 2006) — Harford County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating two separate, but related shootings in Edgewood. The shootings occurred approximately four hours apart and are believed to be gang related.

The first incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 206 when a 17-year old boy was shot in the left wrist while walking to the rear of the Shell Mart located in the 1700 block of Hanson Road. The victim was allegedly enroute to a friends home located in the 1700 block of Meadowood Court when he was accosted by two unknown black males and then shot. The youth was transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air where he was treated and released.

The second shooting occurred four hours later at 9:30 p.m. when an unknown assailant fired several shots from a handgun, one of which penetrated the walls of a townhouse located in the 500 block of Candlewood Drive and struck 22 year-old Daniel Allen Perkins in the right arm. Perkins refused treatment for his injuries.

The bullet, which struck Perkins, entered the home through the front vinyl siding and then continued through a second floor bedroom closet, struck the victim and continued through a bathroom wall.

No other occupants of the home were injured.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division is conducting an investigation of both shootings. Deputies are asking anyone with information regarding the shootings to contact investigators at 410-838-6600. All information will be kept strictly confidential.

Additionally, Harford County Crime Solvers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the persons responsible for these shootings. Tipsters must call the 24-hour tip-line at 1-888-540-TIPS to be eligible for the reward. Callers do not have to give their name or appear in court.
