Youth Injured in Off Road Accident

(Bel Air, Md. – January 29, 2006) — A nine-year old Bel Air youngster was seriously injured Sunday afternoon in a freak off-road accident at his home. A gas powered golf cart operated by another youth apparently struck the boy pinning him underneath.

Investigation of the accident by the Harford County Sheriff’s Office revealed the victim was being pulled on a black plastic sled approximately 20 feet to the rear of the golf cart. During the ride around the secluded farm property, the youngster was run over by the golf cart.

The boy’s mother and first responders from the Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company provided CPR. The youth was subsequently transported by Maryland State Police medevac to the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Unit in Baltimore.

Investigation of the bizarre incident is continuing.
