Edgewood Man Arrested for Armed Robbery
(Bel Air, Md. – January 25, 2006) — Harford County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested an Edgewood man in connection with two armed robberies which occurred early Wednesday morning in the county. Keith Anthony Jones, 30, of 1414 Harford Square Drive in Edgewood was charged late this afternoon by investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division with 12 counts related to the armed robbery at the 7 – 11 store on Rt. 40 in Abingdon and the Royal Farms store in Joppatowne. Charges are also pending against Jones wife for her involvement in the crimes.
Investigators believe Jones is responsible for at least 11 armed robberies in Harford County since early December. Nine other cases will be presented to the Grand Jury for indictments in the near future.
Sheriff’s deputies, following a chase through the Joppatowne community, apprehended Jones and his wife on Rt. 40 near Rt. 152 in Joppa early this morning.
Commenting on the arrest of Jones, Sheriff R. Thomas Golding stated, “The arrest of Keith Anthony Jones was the result of outstanding team work by the Harford County Sheriff’s Office and Maryland State Police. Deputies have been working round the clock to identify and apprehend the suspect committing these crimes. This morning their hard work paid off.”
The investigation of the series of armed robberies is continuing.
