Sheriff's Deputies Canvass Neighborhoods

(Bel Air, Md. – January 3, 2006) — Harford County Sheriff’s Deputies spent the evening canvassing several neighborhoods looking for information and clues in connection with the armed robbery at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Members of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division visited homes in the Amyclae East and Green Ridge II developments, as well as businesses along Churchville Road. Deputies handed out fliers from Harford County Crime Solvers with background information about the armed robbery and contact numbers for people to call with information.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation of Sunday evening’s incident at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church located in the 1600 block of Churchville Road. The suspect entered the church mid-way through a worship service brandishing a handgun and demanded members of the congregation, including children, assist in collecting wallets and purses for him. The suspect then fled through the main entrance to the church sanctuary.

The suspect is described as a white male approximately 5’10” – 6’ tall, wearing dark clothing and a ski mask. He fled in an unknown direction of travel.
