Apprehension (Warrants)

This six-man Unit is responsible for the service of all Arrest Warrants, Bench Warrants, and Body Attachments issued by the Circuit Court and District Courts of Maryland. This unit is comprised of plain-clothed officers working varied hours to apprehend wanted subjects. The Unit receives approximately 400 warrants each month. The Warrant/Fugitive Unit organizes and conducts random monthly warrant sweeps in Harford County.

Related duties of the Unit include the transportation of wanted detainees within Harford County and the State of Maryland. Correspondingly, the Unit is responsible for the issuance and follow-up of Fugitive Warrants on detainees wanted by other states, as well as the extraditions of detainees from other states. About 100 of these procedures are coordinated every year.

The Warrant Unit also has a Tip Line (410-836-5495) available to citizens. Citizens are encouraged to call in tips during normal business hours (8 am to 10 pm). Messages can be left on the tip line after normal business hours. The partnership that exists between Law Enforcement and Citizens has proven very effective in the past and present. It continues to produce effective results.

The Sheriff’s Office lists the "10 Most Wanted" on the Agency Web Site for the current wanted subjects we are looking to apprehend.
