Homeland Defense

On September 11, 2001, the world we live in changed. Terrorist demonstrated that the United States is susceptible to violent acts against its citizens. Local, State, and Federal agencies have taken measures to prepare for both man made and natural catastrophes.

As a result, the Sheriff authorized the formation of a Homeland Defense Unit. The unit is comprised of full-time, sworn, law enforcement deputies that are highly trained and skilled to combat potential acts of terrorism. A member of the Homeland Defense Unit is assigned on a full time basis to the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force. This partnership enables Harford County to receive up to date intelligence that may affect the citizens of Harford County.

Citizens having information that may be useful to the Homeland Defense Unit or wishing to obtain information about the unit are encouraged to call (410) 638-4492.
